• 100% Estate Grown Chardonnay, vineyard planted by Andre Gagne in 2018
• Hand-harvested fruit, 15kg totes, October 17th 2024, during the Hunter Moon with 1-2% Botrytis Affected clusters
• Whole cluster pressed in a water pressure basket press
• Settled for one day
• Spontaneous fermentation with a pied de cuve
• Alcoholic fermentation in neutral oak barrels
• Spontaneous Malo-lactic fermentation & elevage will into summer 2024
• Barrels blended for bottling
• Unfiltered & unfined
• Lightly sulphured after Malo & at bottling
• Bottled by hand in February of 2026

2024 Hillier Blanc Block 130 Chardonnay

Tranche 1 was the first bottling of this wine and turned out to be 100% oak finish. The wine was left to hang for a couple of weeks longer than the first (2023 vintage), but the extra hang time produced a more fruit forward and smoother wine. On the nose, pear clafoutis, ripe red apple, and light oak mask a sweeter citrus note - almost like a hint of orange blossom. The palate follows closely with rich, ripe fruit and an unctuous mouth feel at first from high alcohol and glycerine. The lovely fruit notes linger and it finishes with a cleansing acidity, ****+ .
